Seattle Avionics has launched its new GlassView Moving Map/EFB software, the latest tool for the company’s Voyager Flight Software System. GlassView adapts to pilots’ needs during all phases of flight. Besides showing basic GPS information, the moving map automatically displays the nearest airport, navaid and airspace information as the airplane’s position changes.

Garmin recently introduced GPSMAP 396, a portable device that puts weather data at a pilot’s fingertips. TimeTrac, a new automated flight recording system, recently was issued an STC for more than 750 makes and models of GA aircraft. The system automatically records each flight and uses a computer to create and analyze pilot and aircraft logs. Price: $1,495.

Development continues on the Javelin Jet prototype. Aviation Technology Group (ATG) recently reported the successful completion of ground vibration testing, while resolution of a nosewheel shimmy is underway. In a recent high speed taxi test with the Javelin prototype’s flight configuration, a common, but unwelcome, nosewheel shimmy occurred. After some minor adjustments, additional taxi tests revealed the nosewheel vibration still occurring.  […]
