Lew Wallick, 85

Mr. Lew Wallick was a long-time Boeing test pilot who pass away August 19. From a story in the Seattle Times: On his first airplane ride at age 12, S.L. “Lew” Wallick Jr. was so comfortable he stood up in the biplane’s open cockpit to get a better view.

New runway opens at GED

A new crosswind runway has opened at Delaware’s Sussex County Airport (GED). Runway 10-28 opened Aug. 25 at the airport, which is near Georgetown. The new $5.5 million runway replaces a smaller airstrip, Runway 13-31, that has been closed and is part of the airport’s taxiway system. For more information: SussexCountyde.gov
