Jeff Wolf submitted this photo and note: “I love history! This is a picture of Talahina Airport (6F1) in Southeast Oklahoma, nestled in the valley between the Jackfork and Kiamichi Mountains. My wife Nikki took this picture while we were flying over the airport. The sun was setting and it cast the shadows just right to be able to see what we know as Indian Mounds. I have flown into this airport many times and never noticed that the Talahina strip was built right on top of an old Indian encampment. The Mounds appear to be on both sides of the runway. It is intriguing to know that for every mound you see, there lived a family. By the way, Nikki and I were flying in our Cessna 172F.”

Picture of the Day: Why is that pilot holding a lion?
David Newill submitted this photo and note: “Valerie Newill, 10, wants to know why Indiana Aviation Hall of Fame Legacy Member Roscoe Turner is holding his pet lion, Gilmore, in his plane. The newly completed ‘Hoosiers in Flight’ display at Indianapolis International Airport recognizes and honors more than 40 INAHOF members, Indiana natives and long-term residents, who have made an enduring contribution to aviation or aerospace in Indiana, the nation, or the world through achievement, leadership, exceptional service, innovation, or entrepreneurial spirit”.
Picture of the Day: Wings without fuel
Luke Chandler submitted this photo and note: “Pictured is the BETA Technologies ALIA CX300, tail number N916LF, the first production model of the CX300. This CTOL aircraft is fully electric and can be fully charged in less than an hour. This shot was taken by me from the end of Runway 15 at Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport (KBTV) in Vermont.”
Picture of the Day: Sunrise or sunset?
Gilles Roy submitted this photo and note: “My aircraft is a 2007 Cessna Turbo Skylane. I was flying over Salton Sea, south of Coachella Valley in Southern California, at an altitude 3,000 MSL. I question if you can find out this: Am I flying in the sunrise or sunset? I am the only soul aboard. This is a clip of a GoPro video, one of the best I did over many years. Mother Nature often offers us spectacular views, now decide if it’s morning or late in the day…sunrise or sunset.”

When landing at Redding Regional Airport (KRDD) in California it was a very clear day. You can clearly see Mt. Shasta about 54 nm north of the airport as we prepare to land on Runway 34. Redding is at 505 MSL while Mt. Shasta tops out at 14,162 MSL.”
