Dean Heistad submitted this photo and note: “Fog on departure presents a risk I’m unwilling to take. I’ll wait another hour for sunrise, fog to burn off, and safety to increase exponentially!”
Photo of the Day
Picture of the Day: Black Beauty
Steve Hawley submitted this photo and note: “I built this Thorp T-18 and have been flying it now for 47 years. It will cruise 200 mph but I laugh and tell the curious that at that speed I really don’t go any faster, just land more often and pump more gas in it. My normal cruise is 175 at 2,250 rpm. Very economical. Just finished installing two SureFlight electronic ignition modules. Looking forward to a warm spring!”

John Steffey submitted this photo and note: “My son, our dog, and my wife in the back of our PA-32. Family fun going for a $100 hamburger.”
Picture of the Day: A Family Flight Review
Mary Ann Lebold submitted this photo and note: “Dale Weir and granddaughter Abbie Weir settle into Dale’s J-3 Cub for a flight review. Who do you think is the CFI and who is being reviewed? It’s not what you probably think. Abbie is the CFI and Dale is being reviewed! At the end of the day, CFI Abbie signed her grandpa’s log book.”
Picture of the Day: My Other Woman
Brad McColl submitted this photo and note: “For almost a decade, I flew this aircraft across the U.S., parts of Canada, and the Caribbean. We had our moments, but through most of it, she was my best friend and co-explorer. Through snowstorms, heavy rain, and around some monster thunderstorms, she demonstrated her well-designed lineage. Two hundred overcast fog and rain were often our destination, but the rabbit was always there, right where it was supposed to be, and she made sure that my passengers and I were too. That part of my life is over now, but when I die, I will think of her and smile.”
Picture of the Day: Easy On The Eyes
Rusty Eichorn submitted this photo and note: “I could look at this photo all day long. Dave Clark’s immaculate 1971 Cessna 180H on EDO 2960 floats and my 1975 Super Cub 160 on Aerocet 2200s at our dock on a summer afternoon at Fog Lake in northwest Ontario, our summer base for fishing adventures.”
