Karyn King sent in this photo and a note: “We flew in to Kingman, Arizona, in our Nanchang CJ6 to help celebrate a World War II B-17 pilot’s 100th birthday. Here we are parked next to the B-17 “Sentimental Journey.” Two warbirds, one a Chinese trainer, and one that was critical in winning World War II.”

Picture of the Day: Holy Smoke
Matthew Baker submitted this photo and note: “A nice sunrise at Bartow Executive Airport (KBOW) in Bartow, Florida.”
Picture of the Day: The magic of airplanes
Todd Winter submitted this photo and note: “Airplanes are magic! In this case, this epic 1950s era deHavilland Beaver float plane has transported me to a remote fishing location near Bristol Bay in Alaska. Enjoying a shore lunch after a great day catching salmon with friends.”
Picture of the Day: Cirrus sim while flying the Cirrus
Chad Jensen submitted this photo and note: “On a recent flight, my son thought it would be hysterical to fly ‘his’ Cirrus on Microsoft Flight Simulator right seat on the same route, time, and altitude while I am flying my actual Cirrus left seat. What can I say? He has his Dad’s humor. He wants to be a fighter pilot. The love of aviation is strong with this one.”
Pictures of the Day: Getting passed in PA
Tim Percarpio submitted this photo and note: “I took this picture from my Mooney while on autopilot. I was being passed by a friend in his SX300 on the way from Capital City Airport (KCXY) in Harrisburg, to Indiana County Airport-Jimmy Stewart Field (KIDI) for lunch. This was prearranged and Johnstown Approach was informed that we were going to take some pictures. He slowed down because he normally flies about 100 knots faster than me.”
Picture of the Day: Two oldies
Wayne Kyle submitted this photo and note: “Outside my hangar at Gainesville Municipal Airport (KGLE) in Texas: My 1947 Aeronca Chief and Miss 1944, a Carvair car hauler from the past. A lot of money was spent a few years ago trying to get the Carvair airworthy, but failed. It’s now a just a conversation piece and shade from the Texas sun.”
Picture of the Day: Cockpit panel in the setting sun
John Schmidt submitted this photo and note: “Pietenpol builder/pilot Greg Cardinal noticed the sun coming through his hangar windows at just the right time to illuminate the wood instrument panel of his airplane and caught this view. The panel, fabricated with the help of Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame inductee Dale Johnson, was purposely cut for the wood grain symmetry, and finished with a minimum of instruments.”
