Karl Kruger submitted this photo and note: “On my way from Helena, Montana, to Jamestown, Tennessee, in my RV-7A, I stopped over in Kirksville, Missouri, one of my favorite places to take a break. Nice folks at the FBO and pretty sunsets.”
Photo of the Day
Picture of the Day: Surreal mountains
Scott Crosby sent in this photo with a note: “The photo was taken from my 1978 Cessna 182Q, on a flight home to Donaldson Field Airport (KGYH) in Greenville, South Carolina, from Reading Regional Airport/Carl A Spaatz Field (KRDG) in Reading, Pennsylvania. The actual location where the photo was taken is somewhere near Roanoke, Virginia, about half-way into the four-hour flight.”
Picture of the Day: The reward of flying
Bill Gansemer submitted this photo and note: “The reward of flying — a transcendent experience of the magic of a sunset with its changing colors from 3,000 feet — where there is no past or future. I’m flying over North Central Iowa in my 1982 Piper Archer in early February 2025.”
Picture of the Day: Early Spring
Terry Hayes submitted this photo and note: “Enjoying California’s High Sierra lakes in early spring 2025.”
Picture of the Day: Mt. St. Helens
Jim Stack submitted this photo and note: “For 26 years we flew from Arlington Municipal Airport (KAWO) in Washington to Pine Hollow Airport (32OR) in Wamic, Oregon, on the southeast side of Mt. Hood. Took this photo on the way down one day and didn’t realize I captured Mt. St. Helens not only out the window but also reflected under the wing of my 1958 Cessna 175.”
Picture of the Day: AV8R
David Baldwin submitted this photo and note: “This Alaska license plate says it all!”
Picture of the Day: End of the day
Eric Parks submitted this photo and note: “After a day of doing some fun photo work with my daughter she got this still from a video with her iPhone as I taxied in at the end of the day. Notice the flaps are almost retracted. This is my 1955 Piper Apache at Shelby-Cleveland County Regional Airport (KEHO) in North Carolina.”
Picture of the Day: North Woods
Walter Lange submitted this photo and note: “A Cessna 152 on the ramp at Red Pine Grove Airport (82ME) in Maine, a formerly closed logging/forest service strip recently reopened with help from the Recreational Aviation Foundation. The airstrip, located seven miles from the Canadian border, is surrounded on all sides by thousands of acres of remote forest.”
Picture of the Day: Solitude at sunset
Jerry “Widget” Morris submitted this photo and note: “I was returning to St. Simons Island Airport (KSSI) in Georgia in my RV-8 at sunset and was taking photos. I noticed that with the low light my iPhone settings were not freezing the prop. Tried this shot straight forward and it was almost as good as the actual view. I still am amazed at what general aviation allows us to do and see — 56 years actively flying and still appreciate every flight.”
