Two airports with same name causes confusion

ASRS Airport

As we joined the pattern to prepare for landing we noticed there was no runway visible. The runway had been destroyed and was apparently being completely rebuilt with heavy machinery in place doing the construction. There were large yellow Xs at the end of where the runway would have been. We were still hearing traffic calls that were talking to us as we were in the pattern, but we never saw any other aircraft.

Post-maintenance peril

New research, which examined more than 20,000 GA accidents, shows a 33.8% higher risk in the first hour of flight following an inspection. Even after that critical first hour, the risk remains elevated for at least 31 hours, according to researchers.

The airplanes will have a place of honor on the AirVenture flightline, with additional programs and activities held in conjunction with the Fairchild and Travel Air type clubs, according to EAA officials. All owners of Fairchild and Travel Air aircraft are invited to be part of the centennial activities.
