Building a better mouse trap
The EZ-UP Inspection Cover Kit, a new and improved inspection cover for fabric-covered aircraft, was developed by Marty Harris, who developed it after “40 years of fighting traditional riveted covers in six of my fabric airplanes.” He’s given the design rights to EAA Chapter 534 in Leesburg, Florida, with all proceeds from the kit sales going to the chapter’s youth aviation program.

The airplane hydroplaning while landing on a wet runway, which degraded its braking capability and resulted in a runway overrun onto grass and mud and the nose landing gear collapsing. Contributing to the accident was the pilot’s improper decision to land the airplane until it was near the runway midpoint due to fog over the approach end of the runway.
