Utah backcountry airstrips recognized by BLM
This is the first Travel Management Plan in which the Bureau of Land Management formally recognizes backcountry airstrips in Utah, according to officials with the Recreational Aviation Foundation.

New surveillance system built to prevent runway incursions
The solar-powered system is called Simple, Affordable, Flexible, and Expandable Runway Status Lights (SAFE-RWSL). It uses Automatic Dependent Surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) data and computer vision to activate runway lights in real time.
48Y to close permanently
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the municipality of Piney, Manitoba, Canada, will permanently close the Piney-Pinecreek Border Airport (48Y) on Dec. 27, 2024.
New taxiway opens at Falcon Field Airport
Falcon Field Airport (KFFZ) in Mesa, Arizona, has a new Taxiway G, an addition that will streamline routing of aircraft from the north runway to southern airport facilities, according to airport officials.
