Aviation = $40 billion for Nevada

MINDEN, Nev. — Governor Brian Sandoval has proclaimed June 2012 as Aviation Appreciation Month in Nevada. A recent Airports Council International-North America report states Nevada airports generate an economic output of $40.5 billion and more than 314,000 jobs with an annual payroll in excess of $11.8 billion.

BIA gets grant to upgrade general aviation area

Work will soon begin on a $4.9 million renovation of the general aviation area at Bangor International Airport (BIA). According to a report in the Bangor Daily News, the work is expected to be complete by October, weather permitting. The $4,913,126 grant will be used to renovate the general aviation apron .

Construction begins at GMU park

Phase 1 of construction has started at the Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) in South Carolina for a park, with a fund-raising party slated for Thursday, May 24. The grading is projected to be completed Wednesday. Next will be the irrigation, grassing and base work for the “runways” and exercise “taxiway,” airport officials report.
