After years of neglect, volunteers from the Recreational Aviation Foundation and the Oregon Pilots Association volunteered to handle maintenance at the Silver Creek Airstrip, saving it from closure.

First-ever summer camp at 3AU a blockbuster
The free camp featured a plethora of opportunities for kids, from visiting an Air Force Base to posing as a Top Gun pilot in a sim, to learning about all the career possibilities in aviation.

Lost and Found
This is just a small sampling of items found recently on the ramp, taxiways, and runway at my home airport, Knoxville Downtown Island Airport (KDKX) in Tennessee. Most were probably dropped by a careless pilot or passenger or left on an aircraft surface during pre-flight and then forgotten.
Bringing the community closer to the airport
The updated viewing area is the “latest in our continued efforts to bring the community, youth, and families to the airport and foster an interest in aviation so that future generations will want to pursue careers in the industry,” said Airport Director Corinne Nystrom.
Backcountry Maine airfield reopens
A new agreement makes the Recreational Aviation Foundation responsible for the recreational use of the Red Pine airfield, which is in the St. John River Forest in the backcountry of Maine.
Remote Maine airstrip reopens
RAF volunteers have worked to return the airstrip to a safe condition for backcountry use.
