First-quarter avionics report released

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — The Aircraft Electronics Association released its first-quarter 2014 Avionics Market Report, which shows that in the first three months of the year, total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales amounted to more than $651 million.

That amount shows an 11.2% increase in sales compared to the first-quarter 2013 amount of more than $586 million.

New officers for AEA

Members of the Aircraft Electronics Association recently elected new representatives to its board of directors, and the AEA board of directors elected a new chairman and new vice chairman.

AEA names Member of the Year

Michael Kus of Avionics 2000 Pty. Ltd. in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, was named the 2014 Member of the Year for the Aircraft Electronics Association; while top honors in the Associate Member of the Year Award category went to PS Engineering of Lenoir City, Tenn., during ceremonies at the association’s convention earlier this month.

Avionics sales top $1.7 billion in first quarter

In the first three months of 2013, total worldwide avionics sales amounted to $1,706,006,894.49, or more than $1.7 billion, as reported by the 20 aviation electronics manufacturers participating in the first quarterly Avionics Market Report from the Aircraft Electronics Association.

More than $125,000 in scholarships awarded

LAS VEGAS — During the Opening Ceremonies at the 56th annual AEA International Convention & Trade Show on Tuesday, March 26, the Aircraft Electronics Association’s Educational Foundation announced the names of 26 individuals who were awarded individual scholarships worth more than $125,000 for the 2013-14 academic year.
