Did you solo at least 25 years ago?
If so, you should join with others who accomplished that feat in the Silver Wings Fraternity, an international organization of pilots.
Founded in 1958 by the late Russ Brinkley and several other pilots, it has grown over the years to include pilots from all aspects of aviation. Notable members include former President George Bush, Senator Barry Goldwater and even Elrey Jeppesen.
The fraternity’s annual convention is held during Sun ‘n Fun, where members can be found in the fraternity’s clubhouse on Clubhouse Row. A gathering is also held annually at Oshkosh in the Pioneers Tent. Throughout the year Silver Wings chapters hold meetings around the country to provide year-round camaraderie.
Initiation fee is $25 and annual renewals are only $15. You can join by sending your name, address, date and location of solo, and make and model of aircraft in which you soloed, to Silver Wings Fraternity, P.O. Box 4420B, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45244.
