Updated app includes GPS flight tracking

By Janice Wood · February 2, 2010 ·

iPhoneAvConnect has released its updated iPhone application, Version 1.2., which now provides GPS flight tracking and confirmation, plus international airports and aircraft support.

The iPhone app has a new feature that automatically records flight times with the use of GPS. “Every minute of flying counts when you are trying to build hours as a pilot,” stated Erik Murrey, CEO.

“ATC only calculates flight times when an aircraft is under an IFR flight plan and on radar, but pilots log all their hours from engine start up to shut down. The difference adds up. Whether you are flying VFR or IFR, AvConnect now works in conjunction with GPS built into the iPhone, allowing pilots to confirm exact flight times with better accuracy.”

In conjunction with the GPS flight tracking, a new bonus feature is now available to all customers. Once a GPS flight has been confirmed, the flight path can now be reviewed in 3-D via Google Earth.

AvConnect also includes more than 33,000 worldwide airports, and also supports international aircraft.

Both the GPS flight tracking and confirmation feature and international airports/aircraft are automatic upgrades for customers using AvConnect Lite-Automatic Pilot Logbook.

Version 1.2 also includes other product enhancements, including customization of logbook fields, performance improvements, and access to the newly released Refer a Friend promotion.
