An open letter to Santa Monica’s flight schools

By Janice Wood · April 25, 2011 ·

Jamie Beckett, our Politics for Pilots blogger, has written an open letter to Santa Monica’s flight schools on his site FlightMonkeys.com. It begins: “Over on the left side of our map in California, the Santa Monica City Council has been making a lot of noise in recent months about booting the six flight schools based on the Santa Monica Airport right out of town. This past week they actually went so far as to pass a resolution to support legislation to close those schools down. Now that sort of nasty behavior may work in Santa Monica, but we southerners consider that level of rancor to be downright rude. So the FlightMonkeys crew has a counter-offer: Might we respectfully suggest you consider moving to more appreciative surroundings?” Read the full letter here.
