Jack Pelton, recently retired president and CEO at Cessna, has won the Light Aircraft Manufacturers Association’s (LAMA) President’s Award.

More than 600 industry experts were polled, with Pelton receiving the most votes, according to LAMA officials.
Pelton helped bring the Skycatcher — Cessna’s LSA — to market, which has already gathered 1,000 orders, the largest of any LSA.
Those actions “helped validate the concept of LSA to the community,” said Dan Johnson, LAMA president. “LAMA is proud to give its prestigious award to what his many friends describe as ‘a genuine airplane guy who likes talking flying in the hangar with other aviators’.”
A permanent obelisk trophy is in EAA’s AirVenture Museum commemorating all 20 winners of the award.
