GippsAero, the Australian company that manufactures the GA8 Airvan, plans to build an assembly plant in North America.
Company officials said at Oshkosh that they plan to build more than 10 aircraft each year in the new plant.
“Many of the high value components of our aircraft originate in the USA — engine, propeller, avionics — so it makes sense that we ship critical airframe components to Australia for assembly locally,” said Randy Juen, general manager for North America. “For our customers, we expect to be able to reduce lead times, increase production capacity and improve flexibility in delivering more customized solutions to the North American market.”
The company is currently working to identify locations.
