A week after Congress failed to extend funding for the FAA, officials are calling the furloughs triggered by the partial shutdown of agency operations unprecedented, according to a report at GovernmentExecutive.com, which notes that officials estimate the agency is losing $30 million a day as a result of the shutdown. The story goes on to note that House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman John Mica (R-Fla) has said he does not see an immediate end to the stalemate.
