Women in Aviation, International (WAI) and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) have partnered for the third year to create “Women’s Wing” at the AOPA Aviation Summit, Sept. 22-24, in Hartford, Connecticut.
For 2011, Women’s Wing will again be in the midst of activity in Booth #1146 in the Exhibit Hall. The Women’s Wing, hosted by Women in Aviation, International, will be the place where women can network, get answers and also get inspired. Daily door prizes will be awarded.
Women’s Wing events include:
- Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 – 1:45 pm to 2:30 pm: Book Signing: “Letters Home 1944-1945: Women Airforce Service Pilots,” Author Bee Haydu, Women Airforce Service Pilot
- Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 – 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm: Behind-the Scenes Movie Presentation: “Breaking Through the Clouds: The First Women’s National Air Derby,” Heather Taylor, Executive Producer
- Friday, Sept. 23, 2011 – 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm: Book Signing: “Flight Emergency: Take the Left Seat in Eight Interactive Flight Emergency Scenarios,” Author Reya Kempley
A Women Leaders Dine Around Dinner is planned for Friday evening, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Hosts for the dinner include Dr. Peggy Chabrian, WAI President & Founder; Anna Mracek Dietrich, Terrafugia; WASP Bee Haydu; Martha King, King Schools, In c.; Jennifer Storm, AOPA; and Captain Linda Wackerman, USN.
In addition, Women in Aviation, International will present the following seminars:
- Thursday, Sept. 22 – 1-1:30 pm: Women in Aviation History with Dr. Peggy Chabrian and WASP Bee Haydu
- Friday, Sept. 23 – 10-11 am: Inspirational Women in Aviation moderated by Dr. Peggy Chabrian. Panelists include: WASP Bee Haydu; Martha King, Anna Mracek Dietrich and Captain Linda Wackerman.
- Friday, Sept. 23 – 1-1:30 pm: Aviation Career Opportunities moderated by Dr. Peggy Chabrian
- Saturday, Sept. 24 – 1-1:30 pm: Everything You Wanted to Know about Learning to Fly, but Were Afraid to Ask with Dr. Peggy Chabrian and Betty Huck
Women in Aviation will host a WAI Connect Breakfast on Friday, Sept. 23, starting at 8 am at the Hartford Marriott Downtown. Tickets are $20 through Sept. 16, and $25 after that date and at the door. Tickets may be purchased by calling WAI at 937-839-4647 or online
