SEATTLE — The folks in the flight training department at Galvin Flying Services, an FBO and authorized flight training provider for Veteran’s Administration (VA) students at Boeing Field, report that the first VA students enrolled in a program offered through Green River Community College (GRCC) have made their first solos.
The program allows military veterans and active-duty military to use their Veteran Administration (VA) benefits towards gaining pilot certifications and ratings as part of an overall aviation degree. Galvin Flying Services is one of a handful of authorized flight training providers in the Pacific Northwest able to provide such training.
George Comollo, Director of the Aviation Program at Green River Community College, notes, “GRCC’s Aviation Department is very pleased to be working in conjunction with Galvin Flying Service in providing flight training to our returning veterans. We are excited about their progress thus far and look forward to their completion of the flight training program.”
Eric Lynn, Flight School Manager for Galvin’s Flight Training Department, mimics Comollo’s enthusiasm. “Working with GRCC has provided us not only the opportunity to complement our growing flight school business and share our flight training expertise, but honor the members of our Armed Services.”
The military veteran students, who come to Galvin via its recent partnership with Auburn, Wash.-based Green River Community College, plan on completing their Private Pilot Airplane Single Engine Land ratings, and have listed Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) ratings as an elective
