A new CATS Testing Center has opened at Greenville Downtown Airport (GMU) in Greenville, S.C.
The new testing center, the only one in the Upstate of South Carolina, is located in the Palmetto Pilot Supply store in the Greenville Downtown Airport’s main terminal. GMU has five flight schools and is the busiest general aviation airport in South Carolina.
All pilot and instructor exams, as well as tests designed for mechanics, parachute riggers, navigators, military competence, balloon and flight engineers will be offered at this location.
CATS, which stands for Computer Assisted Testing Service, is a privately owned corporation located in San Mateo, Calif. When the FAA was looking to computerize its airmen and mechanics knowledge based examinations, CATS founders, who were aviation professionals involved in flight training, developed the software and hardware configurations for the administration.
