Lightspeed Foundation grant recipients to be named Nov. 1

By General Aviation News Staff · October 20, 2014 ·

The Lightspeed Aviation Foundation will announce Nov. 1, the 2014 Pilots Choice Award winning aviation charities as chosen through online voting by the aviation community. Since March, 15 finalists have been reaching out to pilots to garner their votes as the best organizations for 2014. They hope to share in $50,000 of grants with a top award of $10,000.

The live announcement of the 2014 Lightspeed Aviation Foundation Pilots Choice Awards winners is scheduled for noon (PDT) Nov. 1 at the FLYING Aviation Expo in Palm Springs, California.

The pilot community can still vote for their favorite aviation charity online until midnight (PDT) Oct. 31.

The greatest number of votes will determine the 2014 Pilots Choice Grant winners among these finalists:

Academy of Model Aeronautics
Agape Flights
Angel Flight West
Civil Air Patrol
The Flying Doctors
Mission Aviation Fellowship
Missionary Flights International
New Tribes Mission
Ninety-Nines
Patient AirLift Services
Pilots N Paws
SUN ‘n FUN
Think Global Flight
Tomorrow’s Aeronautical Museum
Whirly-Girls International

“Since its inception, the Pilots Choice voting and awards have introduced us all to dozens of worthy charities and amazing people that are making a significant impact around the world.” says Allan Schrader, President of Lightspeed Aviation. “As more and more people are participating to gain awareness for their organizations, the awards are a growth vehicle to advance general aviation and the great things we can do together.”
The Lightspeed Aviation Foundation was established in 2010.
