Loved the back country my ride was a140 Chrokee cost was $ 5.0 in 1970. It still in great shape as I am. But no left seat time since 94 hart bi pass. Hopeing for expanding DL Now only right or light sport John
Who care about chipped paint and prop dings, buy a file. It’s a sacked out Mooney, have fun and go places. Funny no one would say that if it was a $250,000 Carbon Cub, but it’s a $30,000 Money and everyone’s worried about paint.
An old friend flew his Mooney as a flight of two with our Cessna 180 to Alaska. He even landed at the gravel strip that is Bettles Field. He had three aboard with all their gear for a two week trip. Don’t be so quick to discount the capabilities of those Mooneys.
If all you see is prop dings and chipped paint, you’re missing the point. Nothing like off airport and Kudos to you for doing it in a Mooney.
No Way, I was just there yesterday. Did you go to the hot springs as well?
OHHHH YEAH ! My idea of a good time, I just prefer to use a high wing taildragger to get there.
I see nothing but prop dings and chipped paint from runway gravel.
Was it warm?
That’s awesome! This is probably one of the most remote strips I’ve ever heard of! It’s hard to pick out on Google Maps, so I don’t know how you’d find it from the air without a good GPS.
Wow, that took me forever to find as well, even having the degrees and minutes on the sign! Beautiful remote locale.
Here are the exact coordinates if others want to pinpoint it on google maps. 🙂
