John Wesley captured these photos of this 1943 RC-45J on its way to Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Michigan for an airshow. The plane was an aerial recon trainer, with camera hatches in the belly, range finders in the nose and with provisions for side looking cameras. “If you look carefully at the cabin door, you can see the outline of the camera hatch,” he says.

I trained on one of these as an Aircraft Mechanic in the USAF in 1958 then flew cargo and dropped skydivers from one in the 70’s after getting my Pilots License using My G I Bill benefits for flight school.
