Bryan Stewart sent in this photo of a Cessna 180 and a Cessna 185 in formation over the Great Salt Lake. He relates: “We were following in a Cessna 210 as the photo plane. This was done as a favor for a friend who wanted to get both these airplanes in formation for quite some time.”

I took that photo and there is no photoshop… point of fact, I don’t even know how to use photoshop. The image is of Jim’s 185 and Ron’s 180 in formation over the Great Salt Lake. I shot it from the door of a 210 on a 5D Mk II. You can see the rest of that days shoot on our Instagram account or blog.
I’d say PhotoShop
Pete,
It’s tempting to think that, given the incredible nature of the photo. However, I know the pilots and cameraman involved in this picture, and they’re all very talented. They got some great photos and video from this outing with the dual Skywagons. Also, if you look, you can see some subtle differences between the two planes, such as different hubcaps and a different blue stripe pattern as it reaches the spinner. Anyway, just wanted to pipe up and verify that this is a legitimate photo.
I offer my apology for too quick a judgement and make no excuse for my mistake. According too you I was wrong. The photography is so good and to pull this off is truly remarkable. I am humbled. I will publish this so anyone can see. I love flying and photography and have no intention to criticize. The photo is just so perfect.
Sincerely,
Pete
These two look like they could be sisters. Very nice photo of two of my favorite planes. And the 210, without the wing struts, is a great photo platform.
I’d say that is the picture of the year or even the decade.
