Bob Martin sent in this photo of Jack Stuart hand propping a vintage Taylorcraft at the annual fly-in at the Havana Regional Airport (9I0) in Illinois. More than 50 pilots took advantage of beautiful weather and awesome pancakes over Labor Day weekend, Martin reports.
Oh, and that was Havana, Illinois, not Indiana. It was a great day and good turnout.
Sorry about that! It’s been fixed.
Thank you. And, thank you for posting this. I didn’t know my plane had been ‘featured’!
Note good technique… Certificated pilot at the controls. Could have benefited from chocks, perhaps?
That is actually my plane being propped by a friend of mine. Chocks are a bit overkill as brakes are applied, and mine work very well. If there were chocks, he would have had to walk around the prop each side, remove them, (very close to the spinning prop), and then hand them to me.
