David Nuss sent in this photo, taken at Youngstown Warren Regional Airport last May. “I got the feeling that my Taylorcraft BC-12D1 was asking ‘what is all of this fencing for?’ when sitting on the ramp,” he commented.

Thanks for the nice comments. She does have a grass strip she calls home.
That’s why she doesn’t know what the fences are for.
That airplane belongs on a beautiful grass strip with no fences.
Martin Co SUA Witham Field (Stuart,FL) has a 6 foot Barb wire on top around the entire field. Many locked gates with wire on top. Now we refer to the airfield Witham Prison.
When I asked one of the County Commissioner what was up and how much did it cost,
she replied over $800,000 but don’t worry. It was a Grant. We did not use your tax money!
No, tax money is NEVER paid by people – right! And airports are mostly prisons these days – so sad. As a kid I even wandered around the parks “Cubs” (all planes ere ‘Cubs”) and I grew to know, love and got my desire to fly. Kids today can find a semblance of that at the EAAs Young Eagles program.
Nice looking T-Cart.
Fences are to keep the good ones out and anyone that might want to be a pilot someday!
So people with irrational fears feel better.
The fences are there to keep animals out and pilots in.
Those fences are there so the terrorists don’t steal the airport.
That’s quite a lovely photo. Simple yet fun, I’d like to fly one of those sometime.
