Gulf Coast, Pacific Coast Avionics appointed Appareo dealers

By General Aviation News Staff · May 12, 2016 ·

Gulf Coast Avionics and Pacific Coast Avionics have been approved as authorized dealers for the Appareo family of Stratus portable and panel-mounted ADS-B products.

Rick Garcia, president and CEO of the two companies, said he is excited to be able to offer the new Stratus 2S portable and Stratus ESG, a panel-mounted 1090ES/ADS-B transponder.

Stratus 2S-ForeFlight“While all of the Stratus products are exceptional, I believe that the Stratus 2S will be the most popular,” he said. “If you have an iPad in your cockpit, the Stratus 2S is the ultimate add-on, delivering a list of benefits including subscription-free weather, dual-band ADS-B traffic, WAAS GPS position, back-up attitude heading reference system (AHRS), a built in flight data recorder, and long battery life.”

Garcia also said that along with the portable Stratus 2S, his companies would also be one of the first retailers to offer the new panel-mounted, Stratus ESG, which is a 1090 extended squitter (ES) ADS-B Out transponder with built-in WAAS GPS.

Isn’t the Stratus ADS-B receivers only compatible with Foreflight for traffic and wx? I’ve heard the company makes it difficult in how the coding is done in order to make it difficult to use any other efb. Can someone correct me if I’m wrong or shed some light on this?

Does that mean they have to be installed there?
