Sporty’s introduces new flight gear timer

By General Aviation News Staff · September 12, 2016 ·

Sporty’s has introduced a new Flight Gear Timer focused on simplicity.

A timer is still one of the most useful tools a pilot can carry in his flight bag for timing fuel burn, cross country waypoints or instrument approaches, Sporty’s officials note.

Flightgear-TimerSporty’s new Flight Gear Timer features a full 10-digit keypad, which makes it fast and easy to enter exact times, and a large screen is well-suited to busy cockpits, officials added.

Sporty’s Timer can either count down or start from zero and count up. After time has expired, hitting the stop/reset button will automatically reset the timer to the last set time.

“Sporty’s Timer is simple — no clock, no modes, no multiple timers,” says Sporty’s Vice President John Zimmerman. “We love our glass panels, but pilots still have a need for a basic device such flight-timer-flashing-light-as this for timing when to switch fuel tanks, for example.”

With all the noise in the cockpit, audible alarms are often rendered useless so in addition to a loud beep, Sporty’s Flight Gear Timer is equipped with a flashing red LED to provide a visual indication when time has expired.

Measuring 2.75 inches by 3.15 inches by 1 inch, the timer operates on two AAA batteries.

Sporty’s Flight Gear Timer [#2550A] is available for $17.95.
