True Blue Power introduces lithium batteries for general aviation

True Blue Power has introduced two new main ship batteries for general aviation.

The certified TB14 (13 amp-hour) and TB28–12V (26 amp-hour) lithium-ion batteries are specifically designed for smaller, fixed-wing, Part 23 aircraft.

Weighing just 10 pounds, they are the company’s smallest and lightest aircraft batteries, according to True Blue officials, who note the company now offers lithium-ion batteries for all markets, from experimental and homebuilt to the largest commercial and defense aircraft.

TB28-12V Advanced Lithium-ion Battery

  • Designed for 14-volt aircraft
  • 26 amp-hour
  • 10 pounds
  • On-condition maintenance
  • $2,499 List Price

The certification plan for the new batteries includes STC approval for an extensive list of aircraft models, according to company officials.

    They are starting batteries. Interesting but I got almost 8 years out of my Gill before I recently replaced it. I could replace it three times for what one of these cost.

    Help me out here. Since 26 ah is equivalent to .312 Kwh and it takes many kwhs to power a drivetrain for an EV or E-plane. Like 15 kwh to go 50-60 miles in a car and though I have no data for what distance a small plane would travel on that, I’m assuming it’s similar. If these are for prop power you would need dozens of them.
