Officials with Rotor X Aircraft Manufacturing Company report that the Dragon Personal Air Vehicle (PAV) production prototype will be unveiled at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023 in July.
The electric ultralight aircraft, which will be sold as a quick-build kit, is priced at just under $90,000, according to officials with the Chandler, Arizona-based company.
Officials add that Dragon kits will be in full production by the end of the year.
The Dragon PAV has a 250-pound pilot capacity, can fly for 20 minutes, and recharge in less than two hours, according to company officials.
Safety features include helicopter safety landing gear, ballistic chute safety cage, redundant independent motors, power system with independent batteries controlled by a redundant flight controller, automatic takeoff and landing, hands-off return to hover and position hold.
Company officials note that a pilot certificate is not required to fly the Dragon as the aircraft meets ultralight requirements under FAA Part 103.
Flight testing continues on the Dragon pre-production prototypes, company officials noted, adding manned flight are expected before mid-June 2023.

I’ll admit it: I’d try one out if someone offered me a free test flight. And it would probably be a lot of fun. But, I can’t see me ever being so wealthy that I would even attempt to justify spending that much to own something like that. So, I’ll just file this under “Solutions in Search of a Bored Rich Kid” and stand by for the look-at-me YouTube (or TikTok) videos of the risky antics that will no doubt follow.
If it was gas or diesel powered and want 90K I would think of getting one and for only 20 minutes of flying. Make a gas powered one and make the flying time to and hr or two then it might be worth it but until then you can keep it!
A complete rip off, even for people with too much money.
$90,000, or $9,000 ? I wouldn’t pay $900 for this ugly thing. Visions of smoking holes in the ground. The ICARO 2000 electric trike from world-champion hang glider pilot Manfred Ruhmer costs far less and is a real airplane.
$90,000 for only 20 minutes of flying time? That’s absurd !!!!!😠😠😠😠
At my age, it takes 10 minutes to pee.
Don’t want a $90k flying machine with only twice my range.
