ALSIM and Orbit Groundschool have formed a new partnership to develop an automated pilot selection and evaluation tool.

The collaboration combines ALSIM’s experience in flight simulation technology with Orbit Groundschool’s expertise in aviation training and assessment, according to company officials.

The new system aims to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and fairness of pilot selection through data-driven evaluation and intelligent automation, officials added.

“This collaboration represents an important step forward in the modernization of pilot assessment,” said Audrey Jeffroy, Sales and Marketing Director at ALSIM. “Together with Orbit Groundschool, we’re leveraging technology to better identify and support future aviation professionals.”

“This automatic pilot selection tool will greatly enhance the ability to assess and determine the core pilot competencies needed for aspiring pilots in a real-world environment using our ALSIM ALX training device,” added Niko Gerrits, Managing Director of Orbit Groundschool.

The development of the system is underway.

The military has been using this data-driven approach for many decades but it still is a black art with no clear solutions. I’d be very surprised if this method is any better at predicting a given student’s potential.
