While flying in a canyon over a river near Asotin, Washington, the Kitfox S7 Super Sport hit an unmarked powerline. The plane then hit the water.
Both occupants were able to get out of the plane before it sank.
The airplane was not recovered “and was presumed substantially damaged,” according to NTSB officials.
Probable Cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain clearance from powerlines during low altitude flying.
