SilverLight Aviation’s flagship gyroplane, the AR-1, will now be delivered as a factory-built gyroplane, compliant with MOSAIC and ASTM standards.
This makes the AR-1 the first American-made production gyroplane to be offered as factory-built to meet these new FAA requirements, according to company officials.
“We have been working directly with the industry and FAA to complete the ASTM standards required by MOSAIC and are confident that our aircraft will meet and exceed these standards,” said Abid Farooqui, President and Founder of SilverLight Aviation, adding that the company is now taking orders for the factory-built AR-1s.
The first MOSAIC and ASTM compliant factory-built AR-1 gyroplanes are scheduled to be delivered in October 2026, company officials added.
Approved in July 2025, MOSAIC — Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification — brings big changes to not only aircraft certification, but also pilot privileges, and is considered one of the biggest changes to general aviation in years.
Farooqui notes that he has participated, with other industry experts, in writing the requirements for gyroplanes, weight-shift aircraft, and other airplanes, for ASTM standards to meet the new FAA MOSAIC rule’s requirements.
