ForeFlight Training Course Takes Off

By General Aviation News Staff · April 28, 2026 · 1 Comment

Sporty’s has launched ForeFlight Power Users Training, a new online training course developed by ForeFlight and available exclusively in the Sporty’s Pilot Training platform.

Designed for pilots of all experience levels, the course provides a real-world guide to using ForeFlight from initial setup and flight planning to advanced in-flight tools and digital logbook management.

Structured in three progressive sections — Fundamentals, Advanced, and Logbook — the course walks pilots through the entire flight workflow. Early lessons focus on building a strong foundation, including optimizing iPad settings, configuring aircraft and app data, and mastering planning and weather briefing tools, according to Sporty’s officials.

From there, pilots can advance to more sophisticated features like dynamic procedures, integrated weight and balance, performance calculations, and in-flight decision-making tools.

A dedicated section on ForeFlight Logbook rounds out the training, covering everything from basic entries to reporting, currency tracking, and instructor tools.

“ForeFlight is an incredibly powerful tool, but to get the most out of it, pilots need more than just a feature tour — they need to understand how it fits into the flow of a real flight,” said Bret Koebbe, Senior Vice President at Sporty’s and lead course producer. “This course was built to help pilots move beyond the basics and use ForeFlight with confidence at every stage of flight.”

“By partnering with Sporty’s, we’re able to build interactive training sessions that go beyond playing a video in the background,” said Thomas Daugherty, Manager-Training Products for Jeppesen ForeFlight. “They require you to follow the same workflows you’ll use every time you fly, quickly building muscle memory from the comfort of your home.”

The course includes over eight hours of content and is available for $75.

This seems like a good idea, but you have to sign up for a yearly subscription. No thank you.
