Vashon Aircraft has unveiled the Ranger Grand Teton, a flagship edition “that showcases everything the company’s aircraft can do now that the FAA’s long-awaited MOSAIC rule has rewritten what a light-sport airplane is allowed to be,” according to company officials.
Built for backcountry flying, the new plane carries more than any Ranger before it and flies in weather that once kept light-sport aircraft on the ground, company officials added.
“Ten years ago, we made a bet. We built toward a standard the rules didn’t even allow yet, because we believed good engineering would outlast outdated regulations,” said John Torode, founder of Vashon Aircraft. “MOSAIC is here, and it’s the moment that bet pays off. The Grand Teton is what it looks like. While the rest of the industry goes back to the drawing board, we’re ready to fly. This is what American aviation looks like when you build for the future instead of the past.”
Highlights include:
- Useful load / payload: 550 pounds (roughly 900 pounds empty against a 1,450-lb gross weight), on a reinforced airframe structure and landing gear
- IFR capability: IMC-capable for instrument flight, with heated pitot and a backup primary flight display
- Dynon avionics
- Premium details include special-edition seats, Beringer wheels and brakes, and interior sound-deadening panels.
Pricing starts at $241,000, with first deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
