Hartzell Propeller has expanded Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval of its new Navigator carbon fiber propeller series for thousands more Beechcraft Bonanzas.
The three-blade prop offers carbon fiber lightweight blade technology, which results in a measurable increase in overall performance along with a decrease in weight, according to company officials.
Covered by the Top Prop Warranty through the first overhaul, the Navigator prop is available for all Bonanzas with the IO-550-B engine and the A36TC with the TSIO-520-U(B) engine (not applicable to models with a Continental IO-520-BA engine). Early Bonanzas converted to a D’Shannon or GAMI IO-550-B engine also are covered under the amended STC.
The STC kit includes an 80-inch diameter, three-blade carbon fiber propeller with polished spinner and all associated documentation. Total weight of the prop and spinner is 63 pounds, which translates up to a net 7-pound reduction in weight, depending upon the airplane and prior propeller and spinner assembly it replaces, company officials said.
