A video posted recently to YouTube by Earth Uncovered takes us inside the Albatros-Flugzeugwerke factory in Johannisthal, Berlin, to witness some of the oldest surviving film footage of aircraft manufacturing.
Originally filmed in 1918 under the title “Munitionsanfertigung” (Munitions Production), this rare German propaganda documentary captures the step-by-step construction of World War I Albatros fighter aircraft — from woodworking, wing-stitching, and metalworking to final engine fitment and assembly.
The 10-minute historical film has been digitally restored and upscaled to high resolution and paired with an original ambient soundtrack combining atmospheric sound effects and music created specifically to immerse you in the 1918 factory floor.
