RAF Installs Fire Hub at Beechcraft Heritage Museum

The Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF) installed a new RAF Fire Hub at the Beechcraft Heritage Museum, located adjacent to Tullahoma Regional Airport (KTHA) in Tennessee.

Museum personnel and RAF volunteers completed the project ahead of the annual Beech Party fly-in held Oct. 10-11, 2026. (Look for a story on the Beech Party in a future post).

The installation was funded through an RAF grant submitted by RAF Tennessee Ambassador Steve Lewis, while a private donor provided the 20-foot-diameter concrete base. RAF volunteer Pete Smith and his son Matt Smith designed and fabricated the installation, which incorporates a fire ring flanked by three 10-foot-long propeller blades. The structure is situated east of the 2,775-foot turf Parish Aerodrome runway.

“This permanent installation will showcase the RAF mission as the museum draws visitors from around the country,” Lewis said.
