The Wichita Aero Club (WAC) has named Dr. Sheree Utash, president of WSU Tech and vice president of workforce development for Wichita State University, as the recipient of the 2026 Wichita Aero Club Trophy.
The annual award recognizes individuals or organizations with ties to the Wichita area who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in aviation or aerospace.
The award presentation will take place during the Wichita Aero Club Trophy Gala on Jan. 30, 2027.
“I am truly humbled and deeply honored to be selected as this year’s Wichita Aero Club Trophy recipient,” said Utash. “To be recognized by an organization that represents an industry so deeply woven into the fabric of Wichita, and one that has been such an important part of my professional journey, is incredibly meaningful. I have had the privilege of working alongside extraordinary leaders, industry partners, educators, and colleagues who share a passion for aviation and developing the workforce that will carry this industry into the future.”
Utash has led WSU Tech since 2015, overseeing its affiliation with Wichita State University. According to WAC officials, WSU Tech is Kansas’ largest technical college, serving more than 8,000 students, and acts as the managing partner for the National Center for Aviation Training. Utash previously led the National Aviation Consortium and was inducted into the Kansas Aviation Hall of Fame in 2024.
