Photo of the Day
Picture of the Day: Spinner sunrise
William Vergonet submitted this photo and note: “Sunrise over Dekalb-Peachtree Airport (KPDK) as viewed in the spinner.”
Picture of the Day: Cessna 170 in the weeds
Allen Macbean submitted this photo and note: “We visited one of the airstrips on Freemont Island in the Great Salt Lake the other day. The strip is not particularly challenging, and the bugs will make you wonder why you exited the cockpit, but the views are great and the silence is worth it. Plus it’s always nice to get a little dirt on the tires.”
Picture of the Day: Lift-off from Harper International Airport
Robert “Bob” Bement submitted this photo and note: “I sometimes fly out to visit a friend who runs the Harper service station. There is no airport, so I just land on the road. It is fairly level but has a little dog leg in it. A fellow at the station took this picture of me in my 1969 straight-tailed 182 Cessna taking off from road. I thought he did a great job of getting this lift-off picture.”
Pictures of the Day: Lonely plane
Gary Lanthrum submitted this photo and note: “My Maule MX7-180C parked on the Alvord Desert in Southeast Oregon. I went for star gazing and the quiet of the desert. When unpredicted storms rolled in, there were no stars and the howling winds killed the quiet. It was still an adventure to remember.”
Picture of the Day: Aerobat Over Huntington Beach
Bill Forelli submitted this photo and note: “First flight in a Cessna 152 Aerobat over Huntington Beach, California.”
Picture of the Day: Red Knight over Ontario’s West Coast
Eric Dumigan submitted this photo and note: “Todd Culver flying the Jet Aircraft Museum’s RCAF Red Knight T-33 over Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada. The Jet Aircraft Museum is based at London, Ontario, and maintains the T-33 in flying condition along with several other static jet aircraft. The photo was taken from Danny Richer’s T-28 Trojan.”
Picture of the Day: Crop duster graveyard
Dan McCully submitted this photo and note: “Among a field of abandoned crop dusters at the Americus, Georgia, airport (KACJ), this airplane — a Polish PZL-106 Kruk — patiently waits for a pilot who will never return.”
Picture of the Day: Airplane camping in Labrador, Canada
Tony F. Powell submitted this photo and note: “This is a photo of me, captured at the Hawke River, Labrador, Canada, Aug. 17, 2021, by my beloved PA-18 Super Cub C-GTFP. I’m a fourth stage cancer survivor with 27,000 hours bush pilot experience and author of “Against the Wind, Hope Sees The Invisible.”
