Keith Gray submitted this photo and note: “A beautiful day flying around the Monterey Bay in California doing IFR currency approaches in between the marine and upper cloud layers. Here we about to intercept the glide slope into the Watsonville airport. I was flying in the right seat as the safety pilot helping a friend out in his Cirrus SR-22G3 Turbo rocketing along admiring God’s beautiful skies. It turned out to be a great day to fly.”

Picture of the Day: Ferry flight

By General Aviation News Staff · June 24, 2025 ·

Christian Sanchez submitted this photo and note: “There is something unforgettable about ferrying an aircraft for the first time, and flying it across five states to deliver it to its final destination. The journey offered spectacular views — vast stretches of snow-covered fields, shimmering frozen lakes, and quiet skies. By the time I landed, I had more than a successful delivery under my belt. I had lessons that only experience can teach, a stronger respect for winter flying, and a deeper sense of confidence.”

Picture of the Day: Flowers, a Cub and a mountain

By General Aviation News Staff · June 23, 2025 ·

Mary Ann Lebold submitted this photo and note: “On Saturday, May 10, 2025, Sonia Bynum took this photo of a pot of te confetti petunias on Tammy and Ryan Weir’s deck as the 2025 Cawley South Prairie Fly In was just getting started. Dale Weir’s J-3 Cub snuck into the frame. And Mt. Rainier was watching over it all.”

Picture of the Day: Indian Mounds

By General Aviation News Staff · June 20, 2025 ·

Jeff Wolf submitted this photo and note: “I love history! This is a picture of Talahina Airport (6F1) in Southeast Oklahoma, nestled in the valley between the Jackfork and Kiamichi Mountains. My wife Nikki took this picture while we were flying over the airport. The sun was setting and it cast the shadows just right to be able to see what we know as Indian Mounds. I have flown into this airport many times and never noticed that the Talahina strip was built right on top of an old Indian encampment. The Mounds appear to be on both sides of the runway. It is intriguing to know that for every mound you see, there lived a family. By the way, Nikki and I were flying in our Cessna 172F.”
