Pilot under the influence crashes during go-around

The pilot’s failure to maintain airplane control during the go-around, which resulted in impact with terrain. Contributing to the accident was the pilot’s impairment from the effects of alcohol consumption.

As EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 kicked off July 22, General Aviation News photographer Megan Vande Voort captured this photo of two of the approximately 5,000 volunteers who will be helping out during the week-long show: Rosie Duckworth from Ithaca, Michigan, who has been an AirVenture volunteer for 36 years and Bob Gehring from Rubicon, Wisconsin, who has been volunteering for 39 years.

The new feature allows pilots to connect their iFly EFB app to their aircraft’s autopilot system using a Bluetooth to serial device which facilitates communication between the mobile device and the aircraft’s autopilot, according to company officials.

Rick Dirks submitted this photo and note: “I own a 1975 F33A Beech Bonanza. It went in for a panel upgrade. I was contacted by the company doing the upgrade, Bevan Aviation in Wichita, that the exact same year and model was in for nearly the same upgrade. Upon a little further investigation the serial numbers were one number apart: CE-565 and mine, CE-566. Since then the other owner and I have become very good friends and are both members of American Bonanza Society.”
