David Dow submitted these photos and a note: “These folks are conducting training flights at Heber Springs Municipal Airport (KHBZ) in Arkansas. Fire Boss aircraft are used for fighting fires. They scoop up water in the floats from a nearby lake or river. In this case, they are operating out of Greers Ferry Lake, just north of Little Rock. These aircraft have a useful load of almost 7,000 pounds. They are very big!”

National Celebration of General Aviation D.C. Flyover gets final approval
With final government approval, 56 general aviation (GA) aircraft will depart Frederick Municipal Airport (KFDK) in Maryland shortly before noon on Saturday, May 11, to participate in The National Celebration of General Aviation D.C. Flyover.

As pilots, aircraft mechanics, aviation business owners, and interested residents, it is in our best interest to offer ourselves for public service. Establish an airport advisory committee that puts effective and beneficial utilization of the field at the forefront of its agenda. Discuss development of the airport as an asset to the community — a place where learning, recreation, business, and personal fulfillment all converge for the betterment of the residents and visitors to your area.
