FAA expands airport hot spots alerts
12 airports are now testing the new alerts, which are designed to mitigate runway confusion among pilots, especially general aviation pilots who are responsible for more than 80% of wrong-surface incidents.
New video addresses ‘pain point’ for IFR pilots
“Beyond Proficient: Stabilized IFR Approach captures the critical phases of flying an instrument approach from approach clearance to landing or transitioning to a missed approach,” said ASI Senior Director Paul Deres. “In addition, the video offers practical tips on how to identify and deal with task saturation and regain situational awareness on the approach.”
National STOL Series expands in 2023
The series kicks off in March at the Swamp STOL Competition & Fly-In in Louisiana.
Bird crashes through windshield during IFR approach
The impact created a large hole in the windshield sending plexiglass, bird feathers, blood, and gore into the face and torso of the pilot, as well as throughout the cabin.
