Redbird Flight has added 25 new flight simulator lessons to supplement the 10th- and 11th-grade course material in the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) High School Aviation STEM curriculum, which is now in more than 300 high schools nationwide.

Girl Scouts launch new Aerospace Adventure program in Oklahoma
Girl Scouts earning the Aerospace Adventure patch will learn more about career opportunities in aerospace outside of the more commonly thought of roles, such as pilot, flight attendant, or astronaut, and will get to meet women who work in engineering, aircraft maintenance, airport operations, and other positions.

After his first flight through the non-profit STEM Flights, a young man is “hooked on aviation,” but he wasn’t sure how to get started. The STEM Flights team showed him the way.
Museum of Flight accepting applications for Washington Aerospace Scholar Program
Applications are due Oct. 17, 2021, for next year’s program, which includes a free online component as well as a six-day residency at the museum during the summer.

STEM Flights expands into Michigan
During the May kickoff events in Michigan, STEM Flights partnered with Crosswinds Aviation, School of Missionary Aviation Technology, and the Air Zoo Aerospace and Science Museum. According to officials, 15 students participated in flight experiences with six pilot mentors from around the state.
STEM Flights expands to Wisconsin
Through STEM Flights, pilot mentors donate aircraft and time and are matched with students who apply online. Students are provided follow up resources for pursuing careers in STEM and aviation. The flight experiences donated by local pilots compliment the classroom instruction delivered by instructors.
Barnstormers inspire a new generation of aviators
Southwest Airlines pilot Jim Baker was already restoring old aircraft in his spare time when he decided that they would be the perfect vehicles for teaching young people basic mechanics and engineering and to foster a love of flying.
