Have you flown “the trip of a lifetime?”
Are you planning to fly to Oshkosh or Lakeland for the big fly-ins? How about trips to the regional fly-ins? Or are local fly-ins more your style?
How about weekend flights to see the fall foliage in New England, or the azaleas down South in the spring?
What do you think is the best airport restaurant in the United States? How about the best place to camp under the wing?
We’re looking for the Ultimate Itinerary. That, of course, means different things to different people, but who better to ask than the readers of General Aviation News?
When we introduced the idea last year, our search was for the Ultimate Itinerary to Oshkosh for AirVenture, and it was a contest. This year, we decided to expand the concept to include any trip that gives our readers “need to know info” for planning great flights year round.
Will you sign on as a GA ambassador and contribute to our Ultimate Itinerary search? We’ll send you a checklist of information to gather, such as the price of avgas at various FBOs where you’ve stopped, what’s new at those airports, and which airport has the best restaurant — or the best staff. You’ll also get an official Ultimate Itinerary T-shirt, a reporter’s notebook for your notes, a pen, and a disposable camera to shoot the photographs that will help to tell your story.
All stories will be published online on our website at GeneralAviationNews.com. Selected stories and photos will be published in upcoming issues of General Aviation News.
So while you’re planning that once-in-a-lifetime trip — or maybe just another trip to the best BBQ joint in the South — don’t forget to take along your Ultimate Itinerary kit.

And the winner is…
Last year’s Ultimate Itinerary Contest was a smashing success. We received so many great entries that it was hard to pick a winner.
But the editor’s agreed that the standout story was written by A.J. Pawloski for “Travels with 61 Charlie.”
He’ll receive a one-year extension of his subscription to General Aviation News.
All of us at GAN hope that Pawloski — and all the other contestants — will join us this year in the revised Ultimate Itinerary.
