Daytona Beach-based Power Flow has passed the 2,000 mark in shipping tuned exhaust systems. Number 2,000 went out to Kevin Hankins in Texas, who purchased it as part of an upgrade for his Grumman Traveler.
The Power Flow installation, which can be applied to a wide range of single engine aircraft, provides a number of performance enhancements, including improved engine efficiency, fuel savings, lower oil temperatures and increased rate of climb. What all that means to most pilots is a max speed gain of up to 8 knots, company officials say. Results vary from one aircraft to another, but with normal cruise an aircraft with fixed pitch can see a fuel savings up to 2 gph at the same speed, while those aircraft with constant speed props see an increase in cruise speed with a minimal increase in fuel burn.
