A Vermont aviation center just got $1 million richer, according to a May 5 Burlington Free Press report.
The Burlington Technical Aviation Technology Center is to receive a NASA grant to expand its curriculum, faculty, training equipment and facilities. Sen. Patrick Leahy announced the grant at the center, which is at Burlington International Airport. The grant was part of NASA’s annual appropriations bill.
The center’s Aviation Technology Program teaches various aviation-related skills to high school and college students, to prepare them for certification tests administered by the Federal Aviation Administration. Leahy said the center’s aviation program delivers highly skilled workers to an industry sorely looking to boost its workforce nationwide.
