Attracting a lot of attention from AirVenture crowds was the MotoPod, a cargo pod that carries a specially modified motorcycle.
According to developer David Shelton, the pod was designed to provide better ground transportation for pilots. “Once the plane is on the ground, it takes just four minutes to pull out the motorcycle and go,” he said.
Besides designing the cargo pod, he also modified the motorcycle, including making it smaller and replumbing it so that none of its fluids spill in flight.
The pod weighs 45 lbs., and is capable of carrying 265 lbs. The customized motorcycle weighs 220 lbs.
Pilots can buy the pod on its own to carry any kind of cargo or luggage they want, Shelton added.
The pod is now available for Van’s RV-10s. STCs are in the works for the Cessna 182 and Cirrus SR-22, he noted.

Four minutes is a conservative number. We do it in as little as 90 seconds as shown here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dpoSsKZ8T4
